A Rich History

1907

The Beginning

The Potrero Hill Neighborhood House was founded to serve the growing immigrant community in Potrero Hill, providing essential social services, education, and community support.

1910

Julia Morgan Building

Renowned architect Julia Morgan designed our historic building, creating a beautiful, functional space that continues to serve the community over a century later. The building is now a San Francisco landmark.

1950s-70s

Community Advocacy

The Nabe became a powerful voice for residents, advocating with politicians and developers to ensure housing, food security, transportation, healthcare, and education for all community members.

Thriving Community Hub

Historic Julia Morgan Building
Historic Landmark

A Julia Morgan Masterpiece

Our building was designed in 1910 by Julia Morgan, one of the most prolific and important architects of the early 20th century. Morgan was the first woman licensed as an architect in California and designed over 700 buildings, including the famous Hearst Castle.

The Potrero Hill Neighborhood House is a San Francisco landmark, exemplifying Morgan's commitment to creating beautiful, functional spaces that serve the community. Her design continues to inspire over a century later.
